Noticed today that my Z3's Schnitzer 8j x 16 wheels are shod with 205 55 tyres. Having checked various tyre size calculators the min should be 215's, ideal would be 225 or 235 and Max 245. The question is are the 205's safe?

I would say that they're perfectly safe Bryan, maybe not ideal but safe all the same. Matching tyres sizes to the rims on which they're fitted doesn't even get a mention in the M.O.T. believe or not.

Tony.

Cheers Tony. As soon as I have worn some more tread off of them I will be changing them for 225 50's, which will fill the rear arches out better. Ironically the guy I bought it from has got the original BM 7j star alloys with 225's fitted (Max for 7j), so I will see if he will do me a tyre swap, or buy them off him.

Go for it, you've nothing to lose. And for sure the 205's are safe as long as they all match one another. JIM
Cheers Jim. Had a look at them today, rims need a refurb and the tyres are Falkens but must be about ten years old and not a lot of tread, so I am going to give them a miss.
