Guys, the inside edge of my O/S tyre blew out on Saturday morning, this was due to excessive wear at an acute angle across the corner, the N/S still has plenty of life in it so my concerns are that something is seriously wrong with the O/S, I had the wheels off only a few weeks ago and the wear looked even so its gone down hill very quick, I have a long run due at the weekend but I'n concerned that I'll wreck the new tyre,
Any ideas what I should be looking at, thanks

It could have been running flat as mentioned what pressure do you run normally?
Does the car sit flat ? I know my 3 doesn't but have worked that through with spring pads my drivers side does sit lower when measured never noticed until it was lowered.

Normally run 32 mate, not sure if it sits flat as never measured it but it looks ok. I limped about 2 miles back on the tyre once it had blown.

Have you messed with the suspenaion recently. Lowering them causes the inner edges to wear.

No mate as said in the above post, one side is getting hammered compared to the other

Rear beam bushes can do this.

Is it coincidence that the wheel rim has a black mark corresponding to the tear that implies the tyre has hit an object?

I don't think so as the entire edge of the tyre is worn far more then the N/s, it is threadbare all the around

Sean I know this may not help but when I've followed you, your zed still appears to roll/lean a fair bit on cornering, even though it's lowered.
What ever it is,I hope you can rectify it without too much hassle mate.

It does seem extreme i imagine bush wear too my thinking is most of the time i imagine z3's to be driven single occupant just causing wear to the drivers side beam bush it would not take a lot at the beam to throw out the arm.
Mines 10mm out but have it sat level with spring pads to compansate.

I would look at the drop links to the anti roll bar too but it could be a bad shock absorber giving abit more movement.

A shocker that has very reduced damping usually gives tyre wear all round the circumference of the tyre but the tyre wears like an old thre'penny bit (or the new £1 coin even). My thoughts would go to beam bushes you can measure the gap between the subframe and the base of the mounting, I think that's where Ant's car has lost its "level". An ex member on here used to say that larger A/Roll bars (sway bars) were the best way to stop body roll and I did agree with him on that point.

Tony.

Can you show us a picture of the inner edge of both rear tyres and tread depths Sean, also were these tyres on the car when you bought it?

Tony.
