I have been offered a set of tyres size 205/65/16 for my '98 1.9 Z3, which currenly has 225/50/16 fitted.
Would they suit my car, if so what drawbacks?

According to AlloyWheels.com:

FITMENT NOT RECOMMENDED!
The percentage change is 6.57% and the circumference change is 41.5mm.

41.5 is one hell of a change. Speedo will be inaccurate although you may get better fuel consumption! Would these narrow tyres be even safe on the rims, I wonder?
