Think we need a new section for self confessed twits!

Recently refurbished the Z3 drivers door mirror, all went well except struggled to refit the glass (final step). Noticed one of the four mirror clips was broken so sourced a new one from Sopers. Struggled again this morning to fit the new one and it finally snapped into place, but breaking the glass in the process. Insert choice word here!

Thought I would practise further with the old mirror glass before destroying another new one. Applied firm pressure nearer the centre and it snapped into place and stayed put!

Above makes me a twit, but this experience may (or may not) help others, especially worth noting that the glass seems to stay firmly in place with only three of the four clips, so didn't need to be renewed in any case.

I shall now go and lie down in a darkened room!:(

I did an oil change once, and, wondering why it was still not showing on the dipstick after putting almost 7 litres in
I remembered the sump plug needed refitting...... :banghead:
Saw something similar back in my army days. Only difference really was that it was a Chieftain. 25 gallons or thereabouts. Spreads quite a way, that much oil, but the guilty bloke probably learnt a lesson he never forgot. Hope so, anyway.

Easily done with many cars these days as you have to put a drip tray under the engine while you remove the oil filter and you have to leave the sump plug out to release oil from the filter housing. I have been known to "flush" the engine with a litre of clean oil . . . . . . . . .

We had a similar thing with seaking helicopters. Main gearbox filters needed changing every so often and it was quite a difficult job. Have to rotate and pull, hard! And it's only at that point you find out if you have done it correctly or if you also pulled out the filter housing.. if the latter then you flood the entire inside of the cab with 99litres of oil =)) seen it happen a few times! Hilarious

I once drained the oil in the Suzuki Grand Vitara and was wondering why it was red. Damn, drained the auto trans fluid instead! I was not happy.

Years ago an old mate of mine, on one dark cold winters morning, was topping up the oil in his old Daf truck.
There were two pipes close to each other when you opened the grill on the front of the truck.
One was for coolant, the other was for oil.
Guess in which one the oil went .... =))

Fitted a new oil filter housing which can hold 2 sensors. Took the blanking plugs out, installed one sensor and started the car to give it a try.

Forgot to put the other blanking plug in  Good job the bonnet was up and I saw the slight weep, at least I know the oil pressure is decent. I'm also good at shearing bolts, rounded them off and stripping the threads. The amount of times I break something whilst trying to fix it is unbelievable.

Last year I was due to go on my first cruise so Friday night changed the wipers. Took the existing wiper off holding on to the arm and let go a little to soon...crack went the screen. Needless to say I missed the cruise :(and will make sure I cover the screen from now on :banghead:
