Hi all,

I'm considering getting a Tunneau cover to the the Z3, and can certainly find a few out there for sale. Some say they need new clips and again I can find these replacements available in a number of locations.

One thing I don't to be able to find information about is the fasternings that the cover clips on to on the vehicle. Where these a fitting that was on all cars, or an addtional fitting added only when a tunneau cover was specified as an extra?

If required are these still available, or it it case of tracking down some used ones?

Many thanks for any help.

Regards,

Nick

I may be wrong but i think they are a standard fitting. Personally I wouldn't buy a tonneau without all the fixings unless it was very cheap. If not attached I would ask why, as they don't come of easily.

They are called Tenex fasteners. There is a button part that you pull up on and inside it releases two pieces. While still holding the button up, you place it on the ball shaped receiver, then release the button which lock it in position. Do not simply push down and expect it to catch.

The Tenex fasteners come in two lengths, short ones which are about 18mm long they are used to attach just the Tonneau cover and long ones which are about 27mm long to allow for a 12mm spacer which is used for connecting the factory mesh wind deflector. They are NLA (No Longer Available) from dealerships.

Tenex fasteners are available from suppliers. The spacer is easily made from a nylon or plastic spacer
