I'm looking at getting my next essential tool, a torque wrench, and I wanted some things to look out for.

My main question is, can I use a 1/2" wrench with a 3/4" socket + adapter without having to do maths? I saw this as a question for a product and the answer was no, you won't get the same force with a different socket size...

Here's the one I'm looking at getting, firstly because I like black and secondly it has a good range 20 - 150 ft lbs.

Any other recommendations would be great! Thanks

The size of socket, ie 1/2, 3/4 or 3/8 bears no influence on the torque figure you're applying Al. I have an 1/2" drive Sykes-Picavant MoTorque wrench and I often use 3/8" sockets on it. The torque is applied to the spindle of the wrench regardless of the drive size of the socket. That wrench has similar range to mine, and I can check it for you tomorrow.

Tony.

That range covers pretty much all of the Z3 torque settings . There is a list, if you haven't seen it already, as a sticky thread on the Z3 Roadster and Coupe section.
