Evening all, things have been happening in Torksey Lock while we've been away. As I feared Paul and Julie have decided to retire from the White Swan, on August 13th, moving out on the 15th. Obviously this means that we are needing another venue for lunch on September 10th. for our cruise.
Last Sunday we approached the manager at "Woodcocks" pub near to Lincoln, situated at Burton Waters. Some of you will remember having a meal there on the day we visited the Bomber Command Memorial in Lincoln a few years ago?
Try something new or stick with your favourite? Whether it's a pub classic or a light bite, there’s something for everyone at The Woodcocks Lincoln in Saxilby Road.

The manager, Mathew Gillett already knew about the 'Swan closing as they play in the same darts league. The upshot is that they would be happy to have us there for lunch, arriving in batches of six cars as we did at the Swan but they would allocated the Conservatory at the back to us as a private function area.
The Conservatory.
Regarding parking he said he couldn't guarantee us all parking together as it's a public car park shared with the Hotel next door. However there is a large grassy area where we will be able to park, all be it with a few trees. He says they have 125 MG owners coming after us later in the month.
If you have a look at their website and check out the menus I think you'll agree that the food is reasonably priced and includes all that we would be offered at the White Swan , and a bit more.
We've already looked at running a previous cruise route, slightly modified, and run in reverse direction that will bring us down Burton Lane straight to the roundabout at Burton Waters. It will consist of approx. 50 miles and last 1 hour as usual.
It will be a case of ordering food on arrival at Woodcocks so all food "orders" for the White Swan are now obsolete.
Anyone not wanting to come to this new venue please let me know and I'll amend the list although we still intend to gather at the old White Swan in the morning. BUT, please be aware there will be no toilets available there so call at a fuel station, Maccy D's etc. before you arrive.. I will still need 5 volunteers to lead a group although I'm going to attempt to record the route on my Tom-Tom. As per usual group leaders will we asked to a recce and a BBQ here before hand.
Shirl is busy plotting some "Sweet Treats" for afters back at the field next door, at Torksey Lock.
Those of you who are staying at the Black Swan at Marton, if you need some places to go for meals give us a shout, and, if you're staying the next night we could always take you into uphill Lincoln in the afternoon or do some more Lincs. lanes touring.
Tony.
