Anyone watched the latest series of top gear with Freddy Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris?

I have been really enjoying the new line up and show, and thought it has been really funny, but last night I saw something that made me a bit concerned

The more I saw Freddy Flintoff giving stick to Chris Harris the more I thought, hang on a minute this is bordering on picking on him, then he slapped a water melon on his head, which just reminded me of the school bullies that did that sort of thing for amusement amongst their peers.

I then googled it, and found there were loads of complaints being raised, about all the things he is doing to Chris, and actually this more amounting to bullying.

I don't see the same level of physical abuse to, or even from Paddy.
Yes Clarkson, May and Hammond gave each other abuse but I have never felt that it was uncomfortable like this,

Well your right IMO the show has to have one that the other two demean, having said that he’s the only one qualified to actually test drive anything that’s important, no matter what they do to him it still leaves him in the number one spot in my book and they can only follow to add the light heartedness the show is actually famous for. If he wasn’t in it I doubt any real drivers that watch would enjoy it as much, he actually adds to the credibility of this humorous take on serious motors. He’s my favourite after Tiff so I’m fairly biased. He takes the stick very well and he’s earning plenty so no worries.

We're really enjoying it again, after the original three went it's been rubbish until now. But totally agree after this weeks run out it appears Freddie Flintoff isn't struck on Chris Harris. It maybe a play for the camera, a bit of banter is great but I think this steps over the line. If they are receiving complaints it'll ease off for next season.

Got to agree to some extent. It’s boys behaving badly. Chris Harris isn’t dumb. He gives as much if not more back verbally, but, compared to the other two he gets picked on mercilessly. I feel at times he really isn’t enjoying it.

Much more of the going’s on appear to be unplanned than in earlier shows (I felt that everything was scripted to the n’th degree), but, I suspect the melon gag was in fact staged with the help of the production team. Not sure though if Chris was in on it though.

I fear though that Freddie is seriously out of control at times and someone will get badly hurt. Worse, some kid is likely to try and emulate their antics and get hurt.

I have wondered about the excess of banter and what looks like bullying. If they can rein in Flintoff a bit it is a funny show. I was sceptical about the line up but Paddy makes it with his pithy jokes. Chris is the driver and adds credibility as ever.

Would like to see less hyper car stuff though. Keep the fast stuff to cars mere mortals ‘could’ own.

I've been enjoying this series far more than I expected I would when the line up was announced, however the last episode just seemed to go a bit too far like everyone is saying. Hope it doesn't continue to that extent next episode.

I've enjoyed the series so far, it's made me laugh quite a lot. Different from the previous incarnation. I do get the point about Freddie Flintoff, but I guess you have to remember that he was a top class sportsman and that generally means a large degree of self belief (arrogance?). I've always seen him as an overgrown schoolboy....

He's a later model of Ian Botham.

I must complain to the BBC about this series, it's attracting far too much attention from the snowflake fraternity .

I’m really enjoying the new series, I think the ribbing is a little harsh at times (albeit I see no malice with it) but this is what we have missed for a few years is it not?

Enjoying the line up, but the watermelon was a bit too far. Chris managed to keep a brave face but there was a slight rage there.

They need to tone it down a little bit

If they did that to me I'd have lamped them (despite the height difference)

I haven't seen the latest episode so can't comment.
On another forum, Top Gear was described as a"Bit too Northern" which made me laugh out loud.

Just watched the last episode of TG recorded on TiVo, I thought this by far the best of the lot. The Iceland off road and the Lotus F1 features were particularly interesting. More of the same please.
Almost makes you want to go to Iceland for short holiday to see these nutters having a go at flying up cliffs and aquaplaning across a lake in those ultra high powered trucks. Just found an interesting site - Icelandic Formula Off-road - that I have to explore yet.

It's been the best season since the demise of the 3 omigos. I will be watching next season. Couldn't stand Matt Le Bland one bit so these two are a breath of fresh air.

I kind of like it but agree with the few here that have commented on Flintoff and bullying. It's schoolyard stuff but hopefully it will calm down because these three do seem to gel quite well. I think Freddie is a bit of a dick.
