Too many Pixies.

Can't upload photos from my newish Galaxy phone on here. No problem on other sites, but it says that I've got too many Pixies or something like that, help! Obviously I'm not an expert with this kind of thing. Idiots guide needed.

Pixles. Photo is too big. Lower the resolution. What I isually do is take a screen grab. That makes it normal HD rather than silly-high-res. And then crop to remove the dustbins or whatevet else I don't want to share.

or use a hosting site. Pretty sure most of the disk space in this forum is used by photos, thus increasing monthly fees and total cost.

Size of pictures and amount of storage is why the site refuses BIG pictures.

When I'm searching for something and find a google link to some forum or other but when I follow the link the pictures are gone because the image hosting site either doesn't exist anymore or the OP's image hosting account got closed.

At least when photos are on this site they'll be there even on very old posts that I still refer to often.

I'm sure the website admin will tell us if we should make pictures even smaller.

Another avenue for income for the site - which I think admin should consider - is google ads. Just a small static 1 inch deep banner across the top of the home page will likely bring in more money that the donations we provide.

still the forum can resize and downgrade picture quality to spec, I am sure there is such a patch for this or at least used to exist back in the previous century when vbulletin ruled the internet.
the google ads thing is nice, as long as it is not intrusive at every post you read.
if implemented, I promise to click on every escort or adult related ad that appears.

It actually does resize and process all photos on upload, the latest phone cameras are just pushing boundaries which don’t need pushing. I can keep upping the values but that just makes more problems down the line - and not just financially.

I’d start off with a session on YouTube for your phones operating system (apple or android) and how to manage image sizes.

You obviously know what you're talking about @Duncodin, but I don't. Not up to date with all this stuff I'm afraid. It reminds of an English lesson when I was at school( a VERY long time ago) . A boy called Alan put his hand up and asked the teacher what the word propriety meant. "Propriety is tantamount to decorum" replied the teacher which left Alan with three words he didn't understand!

Just go to your phones settings, there should be a gear icon for it and search “camera”
pretty sure the settings are by default to maximum
Select whatever resolution is the lowest and thats it.
or you select the photo you want on the screen, press volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously, or the power button and volume up (or down) and the phone will take a low res snapshot of the screen. That will do for posting in the forum.

Well, not strictly speaking. Propriety and decorum mean the same thing in describing behaviour and tantamount basically means ' the same as'. Synonymous means ' suggestive of' or 'associated with' which could be quite different.
