Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone on the forum might be interested in my much-loved Z3, which I've owned and very much enjoyed for over five years.

During that time I've used the car regularly on sunny days, including some longer trips away on holidays, taking the mileage from 96,000 to its current mileage of 118,000. It's been utterly reliable and all servicing and repairs have been done by my local garage. There's a stack of service history to show it's been well looked after before and during my ownership.

In 2014 I had the soft top replaced by a top quality Haartz Twillfast hood, supplied by Prestige Autotrim and fitted by their recommended trimmer, costing £882. I've looked after the hood and kept it under cover in winter, so it remains in near perfect condition.

During my ownership I've always taken the car to the hand car wash regularly so the paintwork continues to look great. The photo here was taken some time ago so a little deterioration is inevitable but the paintwork is still shiny and the interior is in good shape too.

Most recently the car had a full service and MOT, including brake fluid change, at my local garage on 14th February 2018, costing £551. Unfortunately just a few weeks later the offside rear brake started rubbing and this was diagnosed as a loose locating pin on the handbrake, caused by a rusty back plate.

I've bought the new parts required to replace the back plates on both sides, the back plates themselves and also new locating pins, springs etc. for the handbrake, all of which is included in the sale. Unfortunately time has prevented me from doing the repair and reluctantly I've decided to pass the car on.

The reason for selling now is that the car is currently MOT'd until 13th February, so it could potentially be driven home after removing the offside handbrake shoes. I can help with this at my home and it will of course be at the new owner's own risk.

I'd very much like the Z3 to go to an enthusiast who can do this work and enjoy driving it again! And with this in mind I'm offering it here rather than eBay and am very much open to offers from the right person. My feeling is it's probably worth £800 or so in its current condition but I'll be happy to hear what you think.

I'm based in the countryside on the borders of Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex.

Please do send me a pm here if you're interested.

Many thanks,

Simon

Thank you. I know it's not a difficult repair but sadly I haven't found the time in the best part of a year so it's time to let someone else enjoy the car. Hopefully someone on here will recognise the opportunity and get a bargain!

Simons car is in my drive now, and I'm very pleased. It had been standing for a year and was running rough, but a new 5lts of premium and some fuel system cleaner and its running fine. Theres are few items to deal with, handbrake and some cosmetics, but really no panics. Simon was a great guy to deal with, hope I was the same for him!
Car is heading of to my good friend in Germany, no problems with its future there!

What a lovely outcome. They love 1.9's on the continent and it will be cherished. When we go on the Limborit run there are always more 1.9's than any other engine zed

Likewise, Paul, it was a pleasure doing business with you and I'm really pleased the car is going to a new home where it will be cherished once again!
