This one should be car related, but what about a general one as well for things like DIY and Gardening etc. people could ask for advice on any topic?

Absolutely agree with Mark re bonnet release cables and catches. Especially on cars which are out in all weather including the winter salt spray. Most car are an absolute nightmare to get the bonnet open if/when the release fails. Usually involves breaking the radiator grille(s) unless you're very lucky. So keep these items lubricated and in good order.

Tony.

ps. If it was easy to open car bonnets more cars would be stolen!

Tip of the week from me: I take the Z out dry days only. When I come back from a day out the Z goes straight into the garage. I wash the car in the garage with a half bucket of very warm water with 2 caps of Autoglym Car Shampoo with a regularly well squeezed sponge - enough water on the sponge to remove dry dust and dirt without fear of scratching paintwork and no water dripping. I then dry off with a damp chamois, rinsed and squeezed a few times. The paintwork comes up a treat and alloys also! Takes around 15 minutes to complete the job.

Always grease/spray lube your bonnet release catches and cable. Pita if they break.
Agreed Mark and I have that T-shirt. It was a garage job to fix, it took 3 blokes to open the bonnet. One pushing down over each of the bonnet catches while the other pulled the inner & outer of the bowden cable form within the cabin. New catches and cables later and all is fine, I still lubricate them though.
