Need to keep them lavished with Autoglym leather care balm ( or similar)
I have 3 zeds now

2 of them have Walknappa leather with piping ( black, yellow pipe, / cream , green pipe ) my Orinoco has a bit if dye wear to base pad
Seat leather still available special order ( you have to buy full seat leather cover upper and lower) £1295 + vat so i have managed to get a sample to get a custom dye made to repair which unfortunately you cant do that to your centre panels due to the unique pattern on them so yeah much regular leather care keep soft and supple stop sun drying out.

Other piece of advice, be very careful with any plastic hex nuts, particularly the ones holding the front wheel arch by the brake sensor connections. You can easily snap the studs they're attached if they're rusted (ask how I know etc), so safest just to cut the plastic nut away and replace.
If you do shear any off Rivnuts to the rescue and some 5mm stainless steel threaded bar.

Hi guys, has anyone successfully cleaned up the steel fuel lines from the tank to the engine?.. can't believe individual sections are about 170 quid each ! cheers

morning all... as I'm doing a complete refresh of the underside, I'm investigating the replacement fuel lines that run from the tank along the underside ..both the feed through the filter and the return. I've read some of you have just used 10mm stainless steel or Kunifer pipe as replacements. Given BMW charge a fortune for these pipes, is it that simple?...cheers !

Easy enough to replace with Kunifer, I did it for the first time last year.

The broader brake job could turn into a potential nightmare though. Things that went south for me were numerous rusted brake fittings I had to cut to get off, rusted 9mm bleed nipples I had to file down to 8mm to turn, the thread on my brake flaring tool stripping, and I wasn’t able to get the bloody bracket off that holds the fuel/brake lines, so had to cut them off after the bracket near the rear wheel arch to join the new Kunifer in

cheers....I've replaced the front nearside brake lines, flexi, disc and caliper before....I remember having to cut the whole lot out, so I've resigned myself to ditching all the brake and fuel lines. I plan on dropping the tank as well... but up to now didn't know you could use kunifer or steel pipe for the fuel lines, which will save me a small fortune on getting OEM fuel lines are they're a couple of hundred quid each !

one departure from the norm... I'm going to have a go at zinc plating the bolts..... got de ionised water, white wine vinegar, washing soda and getting some sacrificial zinc plates..... not a clue if it'll work or not but worth a shot... OH... and for the subframe mount plate I'll be ditching the Allen head bolts for standard M8 x 22 bolts !...

That's what I did. A little order here, a little order there and before you know it you have a pile of newness ready to go on.

I know I'm not teaching you to suck eggs, but one thing I find I can't do without is OneNote App.. it's how I keep tabs on parts, projects, ideas, costs, progress photos, youtube clips..if I upload and manage on my PC, I can then sync it to the OneNote app on my phone so I have instant access...
