Ticking noise

Started car up today and have got a loud ticking noise. Anyone know what it could be and how to rectify.
It maybe the lifters

Might be a weekend trip to @t-tony and the Zshed after this is all over

Sounds like a sticky lifter. Did it stop after the engine got warmed through Bill?

No Tony. It did quieten down slightly and followed the little revs i applied to the throttle. I know the lifters are an issue on the N52 engine. @Lee may also know if it is the lifters

That could well be the Alarm siren if it has lost its back up battery

It chirps when being driven. I can’t remember much detail as it’s an age since I drove. I’ll try to do a video.

Have you checked for the Budgie in case it has escaped the house and is nesting in the Z

Hi Billz. I got this noise with my N52 after weeks of not being used. You get air in the lifters as you know it’s quite common. You’ll need to drive it hard to clear it. Maybe flush the oil for some fresh stuff too.

Thanks Le. Thought it was the lifters will drive it normal for me then hopefully in the near future

I agree @Lee, some flush and new oil and filter, but I would also add some Wynns Valve Lifter concentrate. Cured my Z3 from doing this after being sorted.
