Just a quicky... had a couple of hours free this evening and got the throttle body off for a good clean, and give the intake bellows a good clean and inspect... bellows was given a wash in the kitchen sink with hot water, and dried and cleaned off looks in very good shape... nice and shiny and almost like new i did try and see if i could see the manufacture date on it, it is a bmw part i think maybe it has been changed at some time...
i did do this last year to the throttle body and the bellows...
anyway back to the throttle body.. removed, and took the tps off, and give the o ring a good clean, also give the throttle butterflies a good clean and sprayed plenty of gt85 / meths / turps to clean the carbon of the butterflies, and the throttle intake.. its not perfect still a bit sticky....
Has anyone ever removed the butterflies there are two posi screws holding them on.. ? I would have took them off but didnt want to mess about too much with the springs and stuff on them as they look a bit tricky to re assemble... ideally the throttle body could do with an ultrasonic clean in a tank to shift the stubborn carbon.. i did try and scrape it off with my finger but dont want to use too much aggression as its a pretty close tolerance part....
whats the recommended way of giving them a good clean.. ?
