Really good day at Thoresby. The good weather certainly brought the classic car fraternity out. Lots on show and some top motors. Just the one picture from me Zeds of course. Felling out numbered in my E85

You'll have to come over and try one mate. You got your service bits yet? It's time we had a Shed day Steve.

Couldn't have wished for a better day for this visit to Thoresby, it was glorious. But the few odd times the sun hid behind a cloud the temp told you it was Autumn.
This was me ready for leaving home this morning.

Got settled with flags flying and went for a wander to have a look around.

A great day good company and fantastic weather and people talking about something called Sorn, .... whatever that is =))

Many thanks to Keith for working his Carly magic on my car:thumbsup: so now I can raise the roof from the O/S door lock, as can Alex. Oh, and Rob now knows he can too;)

Tony.

I love your write-ups Tony. Always some great pictures. And always something from my past.

This time it's that 'light ivory' 123 Mercedes. First merc I ever had and in that exact color.

My favorite pic this time though is the Karmen Ghia. Luverly.

Although that white E89 isn't bad.... (the one with the roof up:). Sorry. I'm going through a hard top phase. It'll wear off around March next year. But in the meantime e89 with roof up is, for me at least, the best looking car around)

Okay, found I had taken one picture. I'll include as it was never sold in the UK.

I walked up to it from the back and thought hello, a Perana black louvre on the back window, thats funny, they were really popular in South Africa when I was growing up. Then I peered in and on the drivers seat was a bilingual brochure from back in the day. So I stepped back and finally noticed the XR6 . . .

I never had one of these, but I did have two 3.0 GLS's (because the first one got stolen). That Essex V6 dated to the late 50's and was absolutely indestructible. Loved those cars.

Used to go watch the Modifieds race at the Grand Prix circuit at Kyalami. Ford tweeked 250 XR6's and sold them as numbered Interceptors, allowing them to take on the 3.0 Alfa Romeo GTV6's. When the Alfa's still creamed them (and by then selling Sierra's), they dropped a 5.0l Mustang V8 in and sold them as an XR8. That sorted it . . .

Chatting to the owner, this one came from inland Kwa-Zulu Natal, so rust free. He's rebuilt the engine and done all the bodywork - since December last year (I think thats quick). Still running the engine in - 168 miles on the clock. Its not for sale, but if it was I've already bought it. Stands up today as a family sized saloon.

My memorable moment (Unfortunately didn't get a pic) was my old XR2 (HUG 149 Y) that i had as a demonstrator from new in 1983. Looked in good condition for 38 years old, although had undergone a full restoration. Did notice original pepper pot alloys had been changed for RS style.
