Z3. Rear trailing arm. Y'know that plate that the coil spring stands on. In the middle of the plate there's that raised bit that the spring sits round.

Sorry. I shoulda taken a picture but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Well. That raised bit on mine has a hole rusted in the side of it.

I could weld a patch on it but the whole raised lump is quite rusty so probably very thin. So (this is the long shot) is there a repair patch available? Grind the old plate off, drill out the spot welds etc and weld on a new plate?

Or any other suggestions which doesn't involve replacing the whole arm?

If that part is rotted out the rest of it is likely not far behind. If you can find a better one maybe now is the time?

The way the rubber shim was rotted around the base of the spring allowed the spring to rub away at the sticky up knob of the metal base plate. I'm quite sure the trailing arm itself is good.

Anyway. "Rotten knob" must be "a thing" because somebody makes a repair piece.
