This has been brought to my attention about uk road tax

Just read through this.

"From 1 October, when you buy a vehicle, the vehicle tax will no longer be transferred with the vehicle. You will need to get new vehicle tax before you can use the vehicle."

I can't see any reason for this other than revenue generation. Granted they will kindly refund you the remaining whole months left on the disc automatically rather than having to apply for it.

In Belgium it has always been like this.
Even worse when you register a car to your name there is a special "first tax".
This is not only for new cars, but for every time the car is registered with a new owner.

The taxe rate does go down with age of the vehicle.

If the tax rate in the UK went down with the age of the owner, T-tony would be quids up..:D

I smell a money making government scam, unless cars are sold & bought at the end of a month the robbing gits will make 2 months tax

I wish Uncle Albert was still with us, I would round up Rodders and Del Boy and we'd sail over there bring your sticker personally.:)

To Hull and Back.

Exactly what I was thinking, someone always wins out of situations like these and it's usually not the motorists.

That said I'm pleased not to have to mess around with tax disc holders on the screen, and the worry as I've nearly lost my disk twice while the roof is down!
