Third brake light

Can anybody tell me if a CHROME STYLE third brake light from a 2001 Z3 will fit my 1998 wideboy,I think the boot looks slightly different as do the rear light clusters ???.

The 3rd brake lights are different between the pre-facelift and facelift Z3. Not even slightly the same shape I'm afraid.

Thanks for that Gaz I have seen one one ebay and they look nice,but no good if it won't fit !! Just trying to add a bit of sparkle to the rear of the car do you have any suggestions/ ideas ??? ( already got chrome twin pipes )

Without going down the sticker route, the only thing I can think of would be a chrome effect aerial. There aren't really too many areas to garnish on the rear of a Z3...

Hi Kev, you could get some led "bulbs" for the rear lights. I've put some Cree style led ones in my reversing lights for example they're not cheap but they look good, and are very bright light for reversing in the dark also gives others prior warning because in day light they stand out better than ordinary bulbs. They are also available for stop/tail, brake lights and indicator lights too.

Thanks for that Tony, are they a straight replacement for the original bulbs ?? As I have seen that some req some kind of resistor or they give you error messages ?? Where did you purchase these from Tony , many thanks

I bought these particular ones when we were in Florida earlier this year Kev. But they're on ebay look up mylitco. Search cree bulbs. Mine were posted up to Orlando from Miami and They were Around $10 for a pair. I since put some 501 style ones in the front marker lights in the front bumper because they show to the side as well as the front. These were from mylitco at £9.95 for 2.

Yes they're a direct replacement, my car is 2000 model year.

If I can get some decent photo's I will post them for you to see.
