The cleaning and re-proofing will be fine, he was talking about the products that are basically a dye that you paint onto the roof. I have the Auto Glymn Cabrini care pack which he said wouldn't do any damage. Used Auto Glym on mine and came up a treat and beads very well. Watch it on your paint and glass though as it's difficult to get off. Cover up well.

The window is still clear now bit of a mark where the roof touches it when folded but will polish out.
I mentioned in another thread that I'm going to get some thin fleece and sew a couple of magnets in and use it as a cover when I fold the roof down. It should protect the screen well. Total cost I estimate under £5.
Watch out when the wind blows and where you put the magnets as the rear edge of the roof is the bit that rubs on the screen and that seems to be where the video shows the magnets fitting. Fleece was £1.50 off the market

Why are people so lazy and cheap?? That kind of thing pi$$ ;$ me off!! My 97 1.9 has no rear antenna and when I checked it out looks like someone just kept spraying until the hole closed over. Amazingly it hasn't cracked at all and I hate the little t shopped thing they stuck up top on the windshield!! JIMRespray time! First pics, had a small ding just to the rear of the ariel, transpired it had been filled with tin foil and painted over.
Going to be welded over, like it should have been first time round!

My sprayer seems to think she's in good nick as does my local BMW dealer so let's hope there's no lurking dramas. Fingers crossed mate.
I hope so Andy, filler and paint can hide a multitude of sins. Had a friend who once stuck 4lt plastic bottles in the sill of a van and used filler and paint to cover it. Looked great on the outside. Good part was it was a drag race van so wasn't on the road. Was still holding when he scrapped it though. JIM
