Well 2020 has been a bit of a wash out for many of us. Unhappily we had to cancel this run in 2020 which was a shame.

Sunday 7th November 2021
Sooooo. Here's hoping for 2021------This may cheer a few up.

So plenty of notice again for this one, but please just have a proper think if you really want to come before you put your name down.

It will be as previous years a relatively short day of gentle, low speed cruising enjoying the beautiful autumn scenery, and it's a mostly new route with a few old favourites still there. (In truth I've changed the directions and added a few switchbacks hoping nobody notices, well the FOD isn't a particularly big place =)))
(disclaimer: I do not guarantee the quality of the Autumnal display or the weather ;) )

20 cars will be the maximum due to parking issues, the Forest can be busy this time of year (so first come first served)
I will be offering full satnav routes and written / pictorial directions as in previous years.

There won't be organised groups and group leaders, everyone will be expected to following the route info for the day, this allows for unscheduled stops for photographs etc and for each car to set its own pace, plenty of time will be allocated at each stop for people to catch up and regroup.

Please note, if you put your name down it's your responsibility to keep an eye on this thread to keep yourself updated..

EDIT: 28/09 2021
The meeting point will be the Starbucks Carpark Ross on Wye west bound A449 just a few hundred yards down from the Premier Inn
Please be at Starbucks between 9am and 10am for coffees and a natter.
We will be leaving Starbucks at 10am sharp.

Part 1 will be approximately 1hr 15 mins with a stop at Yat Rock for toilets, coffee and a look at the views (Approx. 30 mins Stop At Yat Rock)
Part 2 will be approximately 2 hrs, and go from Yat Rock to Tintern Abbey for another chance for coffee cakes and toilets and a natter and then onto the lunch stop running back into the Forest of Dean via Chepstow. There will be another toilet break an hour in at Wenchford Forestry Picnic Area. (Approx. 1hr stop at Tintern 15 mins at Wenchford for toilets)
Aiming for the Miners at 2:30 for lunch

Parking (sorry)
Parking fees at Yat Rock are £2.00 = 2hrs
Parking Fees at Tintern Abbey £3.00 All day. However, you can redeem the cost against any purchases (food & Drink etc) in the Anchor Inn café and Monks Café & gift shop (if open). Just hand in your ticket

EDIT 24/10/21

Here's the routes folks. Routes 1 & 2 are ones you need.

https://www.myrouteapp.com/en/social/folder/4432983?mode=share

You may need to open a Myroutes account (its Free)

I have added routes to the folder from the lunch stop back to the major motorways for those who dont want / need to head back to Ross and the M50

1. If you have a Tom Tom Mydrive account go to save as for each route and choose send to mydrive. The connect your Tom Tom to the internet (broadband ) and it will be transferred to your Tom Tom device.

2. For other devices I'm sorry you will have to work it out, (I have only ever used Tom Tom) You can save the routes to your laptop / computer choosing the correct file type for your satnav device in save as then transfer to your satnav from the computer. NB your computer wont open or read the route so dont bother trying to open it, its written in satnav code.

I will post more info during 2021 but don't expect much before next summer. Can I suggest those of you that are planning to book accommodation again this year, book with a cancelation option, just in case, remember 2020!

Here's hoping we can get together a bit more in 2021

Hope you decide to come
Cheers
Niall & Ali

SUNDAY LUNCH
I have arranged for this years lunch to be the Miners Arms Whitecroft
Ali and I have eaten there a few times and it is very nice. They can accommodate up to 40 inside in one go. I am hoping to arrange parking over the road in a local business car park so we don't jam the Miners car park up.
Their fare is normally choice of 3 meats. They are also able to offer a
vegetarian alternative and Gluten free options.
Once I have agreed prices per head and know the options I will post here and take orders for those that want to eat.

Don't count me in just yet, but since I'm new to the area, I'll keep an eye on the thread!

Cheers.
