The width of pre-facelift vrs facelift the same?

Hopefully I will describe/ask this question properly….. Is the rear and (width to width) the same for a pre-face lift (1998 2.8 as example) and a facelift (2000 2.8)
reference the two pictures below….. So if one was to measure width to width on these two cars below do you think they would be the same?
Is a 2000 facelift (silver below) just optics in these are really the same width…. Because the pre-facelift sure looks wider.

There's also a 'wide body' option. That pre face lift one in your picture looks like it has the wide body.

The so called 'wide body' was not an option. It was introduced with the pre facelift 2.8 to accommodate it's bigger wheels etc. It just had wider flared out rear wheel arches. With the facelift models one new designed rear end that would accommodate all wheel options was adopted rather than having different bodies for 1.9 and 2.8 etc. Probably little if any difference in the width of a 'wide body' compared to the wide facelift.

Was following this on the way home from work tonight, looked ten times better in real life, appeared mega wide but could have been the hardtop accentuatingView attachment 47971 it! Didn't get a proper view of the wheels but they looked the business. A real tasty looking animal. Anyway got me wondering, ignoring the track, is the actual pre-facelift wide body any wider than a facelift body?

1740mm is facelift width and the prefacelift 2.8 is
1858mm
So the prefacelift is nearly 4inch wider the lower you drop a prefacelift 2.8 the wider it looks

Haha, Know that car well. Its sitting in the garage with the sills off. Just picked it up from the body shop today after having a few bits sorted.
