So most of you know that I can be pretty handy with spanners and backed with my line of work anything is possible.

This leads me nicely onto what i have managed to get my hands on. This engine is the M62 so its a V8 but not just any V8 its the prototype that BMW used. Again this is not just any prototype this is the engine BMW used when they owned Bentley. The same engine tuned by Cosworth, comes with two turbo's strapped to her pushing 450bhp. This engine they later fitted to the Bentley Arnage green Label.

First plans are to get her running (15,000 on the clock), She's been sat in storage for a decade. Then it will be what shall i do with it. It could end up in the M or I (Or we second party involved) have been eying up a type 65 kit car.

So for now watch this space. I have quite a few cars to play with first then i can take delivery.

Certainly an interesting project Lee. Not sure about it going in a Z3 though as they don't have much height to play with in the engine compartment and the reason the engines are canted over nearly 45 degrees. I know people have tried with earlier BMW V8's and encountered this problem so something to be aware of, however I am sure your engineering prowess can overcome this minor technicality. :D

What a scoop Lee!! Between you, Zedonist and Ash you're gonna keep me grinning all winter and into summer at least. And I don't even have to be in Trinity for it to happen. No matter where it ends up I'll be awaiting updates. I have a pretty nice 65 corvair that would make a screaming mid engine swap. It's a stock 140hp 4 carb manual 4 speed set up that I had planned on twin turbos for. Let me know if you want pics!! JIM

Great little big engine Lee, I think the Type 65 is the wrong kit car for this engine, I think a Ford Capri would love it, or a nice mk2 escort

Interesting project @Lee, looking forward to seeing this project progress. My skill set does not extend to a job this big but love reading these type of threads.

The box will be removed and replaced with an manual that came with it, The engines also being scanned into cad so I can make engine mounts. Persoanlly this is not the right type of engine I would put in my M but thats for another thread
