Had to Google that ....TSR project
We were 'coerced' into buying the McDonnell-Douglas Phantom, good kite but no TSR2 (no relation)Had to Google that ....
Indeed mate. We were in hock post WW2 and our arm was twisted accordingly. You mean Andy we sold out the development and then paid through the nose to get it back. After WW2 the USA were way behind us on technology regarding the jet engine and aircraft design. They used German development and British design through the backdoor. We were sold a pup.
We still produce some amazing designs but we don’t have the funds to take it forward. Pity as we could lead the world. The Typhoon is an amazing plane as was the Tornado. The V bombers were ahead of their time too. Look at the shape of the B2. Funny that. Rant over.

And that tooYou mean we were Royally Shafted... by the big guys in power to keep the lights on.. and line the pockets.
Hate to say it lads, but the UK would have been "Royally Shafted" had the Yanks not got involved in WWll.You mean we were Royally Shafted...
Yep, needed at the time, otherwise the Brits would have been walking around saying 'Heil Hitler'.So I think we paid it back.
Phantom. The fighter equivalent of a TVRWe were 'coerced' into buying the McDonnell-Douglas Phantom, good kite but no TSR2 (no relation)
Bit like a plane I like, the Warthog.Lots of grunt although a bit challenged in the beauty stakes.
