I'm not one for grand gestures, or in this case, long road trips, but I do like to sneak out in the Zed as often as I can - any excuse will do and if it involves a stop at a local hostelry even better.
In addition I do enjoy keeping a record of these trips with photos so at least I can remember where I've been.
So there you have it; the idea behind this write-up thread which I intend to update on an ongoing basis.

Today's trip started with a blustery drive up the M1 towards Stocksbridge, then through Bolstertone before a stop at The Strines Inn. Undoubtedly the long way round but some lovely roads between Bolsterstone and Bradfield Dale taking in multiple reservoirs. We arrived just before 12pm but that wasn't a problem as it's open from 11am - 11pm. The Peacock was there to greet us, perched on the roof crying out, and sat on the tables outside afforded us great views of the passing traffic (lots of bikes) and The Strines Resrvoir. A decent half pint of landlord before we were back on our way to Ladybower.

We decided to do two stops today and call in to see the newly refurbished Ladybower Inn. Not really our thing inside (bit soulless and smelled like a hospital) but to be fair it as literally just reopened and the restaurant is still being completed. Anyway the Yella Belly (half again) was a decent drink and we had a good chat with the couple who turned up in their immaculate 1971 (K Reg) Triumph Stag. Then it was back home around Hathersage and past Fox House to Owler Bar.

Despite the forecast saying there was a small chance of showers yesterday morning I decided to put the posh frock on (tonneau cover) and get out for a run - couldn't resist a spot of flower arranging as I drove off the estate.

Decided to stop for some petrol on the way past at the local station only to find it closed but ploughed on regardless and entered the Peaks via Owler Bar as per - sky looked a bit dodgy as I went past Chatsworth so fearing the worse I pulled in at Hassop Station to take the posh frock off and make use of their facilities. I ended up having to help a lady out who had got locked in said facilities and by the time I got back to the car the imminent threat of rain was over so decided to leave the frock on.

So on through Ashford in the Water and out to Buxton where I managed to fill the tank - that stretch of the A6 has some great twists and turns and is a good drive if you can avoid the big wagons that constantly seem to be on there.

Next I decided to hit Foolow but not after I stopped at the over used layby between Blackwell & Millers Dake for a spot of rock climbing.

Through Litton and past The Yonderman Cafe my next stop was The Bulls Head Inn at Foolow - unfortunately it wasn't open until 3pm so I made a note to myself to plan better (which I always ignore) and carried on.

Following that first failed attempt I decided to try The Barrel Inn at Bretton and glad I did - a lovely pub with great views (apparently it's the highest pub in Derbyshire) and the Wainwright was very nice

Spoke to the Landlady for some advice and decided to head back home through Grindleford stopping at the Sir William Hotel - unfortunately the Tribute wasn't up to much but I often find the Cornish beer's don't live up to their billing.

Then it was back home past Padley Gorge & Owler Bar - a solo trip this time but will definitely be going back to The Barrel Inn at Bretton to sample their food menu but I must remember the Landlady's last words to me "always phone ahead and book a table".

Great views Garrie, Especially the Wainright! 😁 Often used to stop at the Barrell, but as you say it's become very popular and you need to book for food.

Great run out Garrie:thumbsup:. We were in the same neck of the woods yesterday, not Zedding though, we were walking on the Longshaw Estate.

Yes we are members of the National Trust so often take the dogs walking on Longshaw Estate - usually followed by a cheeky pint in the Fox House or Maynard Arms but my favourite stop is the Rutland Arms in Dronfield on the way home (proper pub is that)👍

Couldn't resist a run out to Baslow today and then home via Tideswell.
Stopped in the recently refurbished Cross Scythes at Totley on the way home - the new beer garden is nice, the car park at the back is massive and the Moonshine was a decent pint (once it settled).

The photos were taken on Sir William Hill Road on the way in to Grindleford.

With all the rain in July it felt like it had been a while so decided to put the posh frock on and get out early this morning.

Due to the hour the drink stop was unlicensed and the chosen tipple was a cup of Yorkshire's finest from The Yonderman Cafe kitchen.

Still out is out and the weather really was to good to miss.

Can't believe I haven't updated this thread since August - in my defence the car has been out of service while I waited on my mechanic to fit a new front calliper.

Anyway got out earlier this week but no cafe or pub stop - still thought I'd share some of the photo's in addition to the one posted in POTM
