Just been watching the latest episode of The Motorbike Show (episode 5), really great show with lots of variety of motorbikes and places that Henry Cole visits. This episode was based in Lincolnshire Wolds starting in Horncastle, on to Alford and finishing at Louth. Along the way he visited Claythorpe Watermill which looked to be a great stopping off point, he even meet up with a group of lady bikers with some of them on great selection of motorbikes.
Alan Millyard and Henry had a go at getting in World record breaking books riding two up on Alan's V-10 Millyard Special, I won't spoil it, watch to see the outcome.
Millyard is a mechanical genius, latest project is a Suzuki two stroke Kettle, and best of all he together with Henry have be given the project of getting the Norton V8 from the British Motorcycle Museum running. You'll have to watch episode 4 to see the background to this project.
Well worth looking on catch up to see the progress on everything.

I watched this the other night. On the episode Henry did in Norfolk he mentioned he was at prep school near Cromer when he was a kid.

Intrigued, I investigated further and turns out he was at Eaton with Boris Johnson.

He doesn't look like a public school bloke to me

One of the big differences with Henry Cole its his production company he makes the shows then sells them to which ever broadcaster buys them.
I do like the way he keeps his friends around him. They genuinely seem to be having fun

I wouldn't say he is a typical ex public school person, far from it he comes across a very down to earth sort of guy. If you have followed his shows which are now in its 12th series he always does his best to give brilliant coverage during each episode to places he rides through giving great free publicity, also gives minority motorbike groups a chance to show their machines ( Yamaha FS1-E the Fizzy owners clubs a good example in episode 4). He also promotes new motorcycle companies and gives them good publicity.

I have several videos of Henry Cole’s Motorcycle Tours. I could watch them over and over. Very entertaining.

Not knocking Henry Cole's shows or him, just pointing out that 'privilege' gives these opportunities that never exist for most people. I watch and enjoy Cole's shows along with Portillo's 'Bradshaw's' railway journeys amongst others.

Unfortunately it came across to me as knocking him as the thread was about Henry and his great show and nothing to do with him coming from a privileged background as the vast majority of people wouldn't know his actual background as he doesn't push it. Few people would know that his great, great uncle was Gladstone the Prime Minister from way back.
He just works hard at what he does and takes everyone along with him.

From his wiki page - Career
He started as a news cameraman for channels including ITV and TF1 and progressed to making rockumentaries, primarily with heavy rock bands, then directing TV commercials, and finally directing films, such as the semi-autobiographical "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" with Elizabeth Hurley.
Starting from the bottom and working up seems more more his style.

I also enjoy Portillo's 'Bradshaw's' railway journeys by the way.

I enjoy his shows too, as others have said he promotes small businesses, by giving them publicity on his shows. :hellsangels:
