The future is here and it's rapid!

So aside to my Z3 i also drive a company car and over the past 5 years and 110,000 miles my little Volvo V40 has done me proud.

However it is now time for me to change my car which often leads to many months of head scratching and calculations.

Company car tax is becoming prohibitively expensive and diesels are in particular (and for the right reasons) being targeted.

This means that as a company car driver the only sensible option / cost effective option is to get a hybrid.

So amongst the pile of Toyotas, Nissans and Mitsubishi PHEV cars there isn't much desireale stuff out there that ticks the boxes of

• comfortable for 20,000 miles a year
• looks good
• drives well
• keeps both me and my wife happy

I've already ordered my replacement and Barons Farnborough were kind enough to loan me one for a weekend.

Here it is. BMW 330e iPerformance

I had it for 4 days and did 420 miles in it

first impressions

its incredible.

so smooth and civilised when around town due to the electric motor and then a beast when you want to press on as it has 270bhp

super excited to get mine in November now!

Best thing is that it looks like a standard 3 series, ping those ///M badges off and it'll be fine. Can't wait until we are all driving hybrids and the government of the day realises how all that electricity is made, and decides to tax them off the road...

Thankfully mine wont have the M Badges as I've opted to delete them (but that more about me not liking badges on cars). Does have 270bhp and only 0.4 seconds slower 0-60 than a Z3M so maybe not unwarranted

yeah the whole debate of where does the energy actually come from is bonkers as its all made by burning something or nuclear wizardry.

Yep if I stay in the CCS I'll be going down the plug in Hybrid route too, but the financial benefits my company offers to opt out plus the BIK saving will probably see me doing just that.

I hear you! Always been my problem for the last 25 years but my business mileage has dropped to around 15k pa so worth thinking about now.

Ours cuts off at 10k

but with BIK heading towards 30+% it's going to be unsustainable
