I so miss fighter jet noiseLiving a few miles South of you and being very close to the mouth of the Wash, we get (mostly) US fighter jets "playing" dogfighting over the town on an almost constant basis. It was a novelty for the first year, now has become extremely irritating. Those afterburners are bloody noisy (and make the windows shake even at 5,000 ft).
Do planes nowadays still do "dogfighting"...I know Biggles did but that was a while back.Living a few miles South of you and being very close to the mouth of the Wash, we get (mostly) US fighter jets "playing" dogfighting over the town on an almost constant basis. Israel, has fighter planes over their skys constantly protecting their borders, they do ''dog fight'' but mostly with missiles.Do planes nowadays still do "dogfighting"...I know Biggles did but that was a while back.
I remember as a lad on a school Outward Bound course a group of us were treking peacefully around Scafell Pike when an RAF jet (Tornado?) came screaming around the hill at very low level. We all bravely laughed though I think half of us (13yr olds) privately shat ourselves.I was in the South Lakes yesterday and 2 Typhoons came by and then back again, the noise is absolutely fabulous![]()
I think the important word there is "Playing". If they weren't playing then they'd use Air to Air missiles which lock on to the enemy aircraft which can be many (many) miles away.Living a few miles South of you and being very close to the mouth of the Wash, we get (mostly) US fighter jets "playing" dogfighting over the town on an almost constant basis.
