Hello All,

I’m potentially looking to make some changes, one of these would reluctantly involve getting rid of my S54 Roadster. So, I thought this would be the best place to test the water first.

At a very high level, the car is the very last off the production line of the famed 73 S54 roadsters produced globally. In terms of limited run production cars, this makes this a genuinely very rare car.

The car is finished in Imola red with black leather, it also has a red hood that would need to be changed back to black if you wanted it to be 100% genuine, Current mileage is 57000 ( approx.). I won’t go into the usual cobblers of listing every feature of the car, I’m sure most on here will know more than I do about these cars!

In terms of pricing, good S54’s are being advertised around the high £20K area, this car would be similarly priced, but this can be discussed in more detail with anyone interested.

I know that a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but what does the collective Z forum think of the higher pricing for the S54’s and is there a real market for them at this price? Also, if anyone is seriously interested in a car like this, please do let me know and I can provide photos and all the usual details.

Thanks

R

Mid to high Twenties should be easily achievable. A 2001 one is going for 25k on Auto Trader with similar mileage

It's a rare car for sure, and will command a high price I'm sure. A little out of my price range, but it's a stunning car. Not sure I'd like to even offer a valuation but I think Billz is in the right area.

I think rare/exclusive cars like this tend to end up selling better via auction or at a specialist dealer rather than Autotrader. Just hope this doesn't end up tucked away in someones private collection never to see the light of day.

I'll post this thread around some of the Facebook groups as well, you never know who is looking!

Thanks Gaz,

that's very good of you.

I only did just over 500 miles in it last year, so that is another factor in making me contemplate moving it on!

Stunning car! My favourite colour for sure. Shame it has to go but times change. I think your right at the mid to late 20's.

Hi Renaud
As you know I have the 2nd to last roadster to have left the line. I am VERY interested as the 2 would look fantastic next to each other in my collection! Unfortunately I've had a very busy beginning to the year ( brought too many toys) I'm not a wiz on the computer but if you would like to private message me maybe we could help each other out

Thanks Grumpy,

Its in Grosvenor of Reading tomorrow, having a braided clutch hose fitted. Whilst they are not dealers, they are very clued up on all things BMW and the more niche BMW's, so I'll get their view on the car and pricing as well.

Thanks Mnbrennan,

My head sticks over the top of my windscreen, so I'm sure I wouldn't fit in yours, unfortunately..:(

So,
The car went in on Friday and had a braided clutch hose fitted, at the same time they replaced the master cylinder as the bleed nipple had been snapped at some point in its life. I have tried to keep the car as standard as possible, even to the extent of buying the more expensive BMW boot lid badge instead of the e-bay copy's, but the upgraded braided hose makes such a difference to the way the car drives, it was worth every penny. Its and upgrade I could recommend to any one.

Back on topic. It seems that the advice from the dealers is that they would expect to see it on a forecourt for £29K ( and insured for that amount ) and potentially sell for around £28K. For private, they would expect to see it advertised for 10% less, so around the £25K area.

I've just got to decide, if its worth my keeping it for the very limited use it gets, or use the funds for something else.
