At last a dry day which i could be some work on the car. So off with the spanners we go.
Well ever since i got the car back in September the handling never what i would of called "sporty"
If anything a would called it alarming at times. Gave it a bit of check over and came to the conclusion that the front arm bushes were past there best. Bit soft and squashy. After much reading on there and changing of mind
i decided to replace the standard bushes with Z3M one. These were ordered back in November and have been rolling around in the boot ever since.
Couple of hours later (not even time for a cup of tea) new bushes fitted and time for a test drive.
What a different...................... i safely say that's the first time since Ive owned the car its actually driven were i wanted it to go rather than were it wanted to go and the traim-lining has pretty much disappeared ..... :)
It beggars belief why BMW fitted those crappy standard bushes rather that almost solid "M" bushes. Even got time for a blast in the sun with the roof down. but cars covered in salt now :(

Glad you are pleased with the improvement, it might just be age related why the previous bushes were soft and squashy. Drop links and roll bar bushes next and that will be the front sorted.

I still believe that ///M bushes are the way to go, poly bushes can give a far harsher ride on road cars.

I think that's on my list too. We changed some on a 2.5 Z4 at work last week and the owner said it was like a different car even with standard bushes, so I think ///M ones will be heading my way.

Well please with the results. Its one of the best and cheapest upgrade ive done in ages. I think my cars got to that age were all the rubber bushes gave had it. Replace most the front now just need to make a start on the rear. Already got a spare rear beam bushed up ready to go but need a few more hours of day light and a little warmer.
Job for easter maybe.
