"Its another Z4 spring story to add to the list"

Short run in the Z4 just to give it a run, 1 mile from home almighty bank and smoke from the O/S wheel. Limped home wing touching wheel. wheel removed spring shattered!

Should i replace both springs, and go for stock parts?

Need to get sorted as next event next Wednesday.

Your not having much luck lately Paul, 1st Z3 engine and now Z4 spring. I hope you get it sorted before the event and not too costly.
Cheers Phil

Feel a bit Lucky Its only a couple of weeks ago i did 200 mile on the Sunday doing the Peaks run, 350 miles and 5 glorious days in the Lakes then 170 trip to Croft Race circuit the following Sunday a great week in the Zed so could have been spoilt if the spring had gone then as it is i was close to home.

New springs due today so thought i'd get cracking taking the old ones off. first disaster took wheel off lost my balance got paint chips on newly painted wheels (No one will believe i hadn't kerbed it) Gutted.
Well 2 hours and 3 bolts removed, slow progress. No signs of the springs yet :grumpy:

Well the springs are on, what a performance its not easy removing something that's been happy for 15 years and doesn't want to budge. Worst by far was compressing the springs enough to fit on to the shocks. Only problem now, when re assembling the faulty corner the shocker looks well shocking, a lot less resistance than the other side! Time getting on and no chance of acquiring new shocks tonight so have put it all back together. Will see what its like after a run in the morning.
One thing for sure if it needs new shocks think i will get someone else to fit them not me.

Could be the shock absorber that caused the spring to break by allowing full uninterrupted travel. Hopefully replacing them will be easier this time.

New Shocks fitted at the tremendous Midlands Zed Shed, Can not thank T-Tony enough, after my previous marathon Spring re fit Tony made fitting the shocks look remarkably easy.

On the drive home the first thing i noticed it no longer crashes over pot holes, altogether a smoother ride. It also seems flatter round corners. Next job Poly Bushes in the Lollipops.
