Hello Zedders

So many options out there for replacement hoods.

Please can you all be so kind to post pictures of your replacement hood,
who replaced it for you and the price

Many thanks for your help

I had mine done at a place called Car Hood Warehouse in Sevenoaks, cost about £600 in 2016.

No complaints.

If you want an OEM look then presumably you'll want a zipped in screen not sewn in?

Those suppliers are much thinner on the ground. I only know of Soft Tops in Coventry who I think are around £800-£900.

Looks like £330 to £450 for a top with a seam welded in window or Near a 1k for a zip in version.
The OEM has the flaps/air holes??
Do the replacement ones above have them??

Not all have the side pockets Stacey, mine does not. From what I remember from members post that Jack Trimmers will put them in on request but it’s a myth that they are necessary to stop the back window blowing out on closing the door. I’m heading to either Jacks or Soft tops Croydon but I’m sure Jacks might win out due to price and a day out to sunny Wales.

Soft tops Croydon, excellent fit and price, I cannot recommend him highly enough.
I have had convertibles for nearly 40 years and had many replacement hoods, none as good as the the one he fitted to the Z3.
Only downside is driving to Croydon!

I might be wrong but I seem to remember reading the side pockets where there to allow the soft to fold in a neater way to stop excessive wear, first production run zeds didn't have them.

I believe they are actually in there to relieve air pressure against the frameless door glass when the doors are shut. Modern cars like my 3 Series lower the glass when the door is opened and then raise it when it is shut instead - this also helps the seal against the rubber.
