It’s time to find a new home for my lovely Z3. I’ve always wanted a Z3 and bought the car in June this year as a Lockdown project - with a bit more spare time on my hands. It’s turned out to be a little gem, and the few minor improvements it needed are now done. It’s not getting the use it deserves and I could do with the space in the garage. If you’re looking for a sorted, totally original and very low miles Z3 this is the one! I’d love it to go to an enthusiast
Manufactured in Sept 1999, this UK spec car was first registered in Jan 2000 and supplied to a UK expat owner living in Monaco. The original Monaco export number plates (stickers) are still attached behind the UK plates. Being supplied in factory UK spec, the car is not classed as a import.
In around 2004/5 the Z3 returned to the UK and spent the next 15 years in central London and then Surrey. It’s second owner bought the car from a friend 11 years ago and sold it to me when they retired to Wiltshire. Averaging only 2,500 miles a year, it’s in incredible condition. It’s supplied with a huge bundle of service paperwork, original MOTs, 3 keys (even the original Monaco dealer supplied key fob!), a pile of original tax discs and a full book pack.
I’ve found no signs of any rust; wheels are in great condition; paintwork has polished up superbly and the interior looks like new. The power roof works perfectly, has cleaned up brilliantly and had a generous ‘re-proofing’ to keep the rain out.
When I bought the car, it had several of the typical Z3 age-related issues which I’ve sorted:
In addition, I’ve sorted some minor stone chips, had the air con re gassed (icy cold) and fitted an Alpine DAB/Bluetooth receiver which pairs with the original BMW Business CD Stereo. I’ve also fitted brand new number plates as the private plate was retained by the previous owner.
The paintwork has had a full clay bar treatment and Auto Glym polish and looks amazing. The interior, engine bay and boot have also been fully prepped. It drives and stops well. It’s had a service plus new brake pads all round and front brake discs in the last 1500 miles and is ready for many more!
The niggles:
As you would expect after 21 years, there are some minor marks here and there like car parking dings on the doors and some fine scratches. The alarm can trigger for no reason unless locked with two presses of the key and the 2nd key can lose connection with the car - but easily reprogrammed if needed.
Please see the attached pictures for more information and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more pictures etc.
The car is sold as seen and without warranty so viewing is recommended. We’re around 10mins from jnc 16 on the M4 and 15mins from central Swindon. Socially distanced viewings can be arranged. Full payment must be received/cleared before collection - cash on collection preferred.

When I bought the car, it had several of the typical Z3 age-related issues which I’ve sorted:
- The rear window has been swapped with a high quality German supplied replacement
- The offside aluminium wing mirror base has been refurbished and repainted
- The drivers seat bushes have been replaced for upgraded nylon ones
- The door speaker grilles have been refurbished and repainted
- The perished vacuum hoses have been replaced
In addition, I’ve sorted some minor stone chips, had the air con re gassed (icy cold) and fitted an Alpine DAB/Bluetooth receiver which pairs with the original BMW Business CD Stereo. I’ve also fitted brand new number plates as the private plate was retained by the previous owner.
