York to Easingwold, Crayke, Oulton, Coxwold, Ampleforth passing Byland Abbey

Then linking up with the B1257 to Helmsley, over to Hutton Le Hole

Taking the Blakey Ridge road over to Castleton,

can't believe this stunning road has no number !

Over Moorsholm moor picking up the 171 for Guisborough

A173 to Great Ayton, Captain Cooks boyhood home

1257 at Stokesley for Helmsley via Chopgate, nicknamed locally the mini TT

A170 to Wass, Coxwold, Carlton Husthwaite Hutton Sessay, Brafferton, Boroughbridge, back to York via backroads. 140 miles, 33mpg and mostly top down. Great shakedown for Scotland next week
