Hi all

I’m stuck and need help please.

I’m trying to get the engine sub frame out. I’ll be replacing the engine mounts and the frame will go for powder coating.

I didn’t want to take the steering rack out but I can’t get a bolt out so I might have to?
One side came apart nice and easy but the other side is stuck fast! I’ve managed to get the nut off of the top but the bolt will not budge.
Unfortunately I’ve knackered the head of the bolt too.

I’m working off of axle stands with very little space which doesn’t help.

There’s also some rubber bung thing on the steering rack which looks very perished. What is it?
Speaking of perished, the metal hose doesn’t look great either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If that is the rubber bung in the photo, then it does not look perished to me. The slots are all even, indicating that it was made that way.

Yes, that metal pipe looks past it's prime and needs to be replaced.

Sounds like you will have to drop the front sub-frame with the rack attached, then you will have room to extract that bolt.

A bit of a tongue in cheek tool hierarchy

Good spot on the rubber. You’re quite right, I just couldn’t see that properly whilst under there.

As for the bolts it’s still on going. It just will not budge. I will win eventually but I think the rack will be coming out.

Does anyone know where to get the what I think is a replacement low pressure hose or an alternative fix?

Thanks for the info. I have found the part numbers and tried searching google for the part but it doesn’t seem to be available anymore.
Ebay only has second hand ones.

I found another thread on this forum where a chap had the same problem. Someone suggested going to Pirtek to have a replacement made.
A different person had the garage make something out of a high pressure fuel line as a work around.

I seem to think someone on here was looking into making stainless steel pipes? Don’t know if it happened or if it included this particular pipe though.

Tony.
