Trying in vain to unbolt the steering rack but just can't get a spanner on the top mounting nuts. They are corroded so it is hard to tell what size they are. Very little room to get my hands in. Does anyone know what size they are?
Tempted to grind the head off the bottom of the mounting bolts but not sure if there is enough room to punch it upward. Will be well and truly stuffed if I cut the head off and can't punch it up.
There is a very good picture of the offending nits on the "what a shame" thread
Anyone have any tips?
Anyone have a good 2nd hand pair of the hard metal pipes that run along the steering rack?

This is from the Bentley Manual Page 320-15. Looks like M10 bolt.

Those nuts most likely will be 16mm. not 17mm.I assume you can turn the bolts from the bottom and the whole lot is turning?

The lower joint at the end of the track rod inside the wheel are 16mm

The two long bolts with nuts that hold the rack to the front subframe are 15mm

Thanks everyone, bottom bolt 15mm, top nut 16mm. Both bolts also seized in after removing the nuts. Lots of prying, turning and swearing but now out.
Now the UJ is stuck, prying it open but the little bugger won't slide off. Need to find a bigger hammer.
