Now to qualify for the full state pension of £159 approx you will need to have made contributions for 35 years not 30 years. So you do need to know how many years left you need to go before you can claim the maximum state pension. Go into the site. You will need to verify your identity so you will need passport/ driving licence and NI number. This is done using either Banks, Post office or Experian. Have any loan repayments, overdraft limits including credit cards. Marvel at just what these companies know about your financial history. then you should get an immediate forecast telling you how many years you need to contribute. Took me around 30 minutes to do and unlike the last time I did this I got an immediate answer instead of waiting for it in the post. Take a screenshot or picture to remind you of the value.
