I’ have got myself sorted out with my first Z3 which is exciting! Until the cash has changed hands and I’m driving her home, I can’t be 100% certain but a gentleman’s agreement is in place and with two like minded people that’s a good thing.

So after this weekend I should be collecting a pre-facelift 2.8 auto in silver.

First question, do you run these on standard unleaded or do people see benefits of the high octane stuff?

Oil change is the first thing to do which I see from the forum requires 5 40 fully synthetic. What quantity of oil is required? Which oil filter is recommended? And finally when draining the oil is there a copper washer that requires replacing?

Thanks

6.5 litres and you`ll need a new washer. I use whatever filter that is a good price on eurocarparts. I use super unleaded. I think it drives more smoothly but maybe it`s just in the mind. It does however have more cleaners in so theoretically it should keep your engine cleaner.

:welcome: - The question of 95 or higher octane always generates a lot of different opinions - personally due to car age/mileage I use high octane on our 1.9 - Shell VPower or BP Ultimate and believe extra cost is balanced.
I use Mann filters and change them in between oil changes (easy job and cheap). If you buy your filters from carparts4less or EuroCarParts the washers and O rings are included in most filter packs. Don't know capacity of 2.8 but 5 litres puts you mid -dipstick on the 1.9 M44. The handbook will tell you required. Again use good quality oil.

Hope the sale progresses well.

I mainly use Tesco super-unleaded (Momentum) and genuinely notice a difference over standard, in terms of slightly fruitier sound and crispier throttle/engine response

Any OEM filter from ECP should be fine, I put a Bosch one in mine:thumbsup:
