Squeaky Steering Wheel

Has anyone come across a squeaking noise coming from behind the steering wheel before?

It sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic, and sounds like it's coming from directly behind the steering wheel. Have already tried spraying silicone lubricant in the gap but it's still squeaking.

Have tried searching the forum but can't find much on the topic.

I've just gone in and tried with a load more silicone spray, turning the wheel, spraying some more, etc. Squeak seems to have stopped for the moment, but only time will tell if it has stopped it longer term.

Yeah quite common. If you take the steering wheel off. Behind is a plastic slip ring. Just needs some lubricant to keep it quiet.

Yes when I first had my current car it had a steering wheel squeak, one application of the well known spray and it hasn't returned in four years.
