What are your Covid restrictions like at the moment? Are you allowed out?

I'm safely down in the South Island, so we're at lockdown level 2. Life as you know it but with a mask on and limited size gatherings. Looking forward to a few topless days of driving in the sun.

Glad you are still able to get out and about as we are at the moment. We are in rural Victoria, and not locked down completely like our Melbournian countrymen. We can still travel throughout regional areas but are not allowed to visit anyone in their homes. When we go into any establishment, shops etc we must sign in via QR code readers and must wear masks at all times when outside our homes. Let’s hope the world continues to get on top of this b…dy virus.

I’m seeing and reading some awful stuff about what’s happening in Australia. Hope it’s not as bad as it’s presented.

Hi Dawn, over all I think we are doing pretty well down here considering the turmoil experienced in your part of the world. Hopefully we will continue down the now quickening vaccination program path and see more freedoms return, and less hospitalisations in the coming months.

Nice car! Surely it’s not that cold in Victoria is it? I’m in Sydney so it’s year round topless motoring here, albeit a few days do need windows up and heater on. It’s vital therapy though. Especially in this lock down. I just do a 20km loop when I pick up essentials from the store which I can do without going more than 5km from my house.

Hi Davil, thanks for your comments. Our climate is a little colder than where you are, but quite mild, with overnight lows around minus 3 or 4 degrees and daytime highs of anywhere up to 16 degrees. Like you, we can drive top down most of the year. We had an MGB for about 9 years in the nineties, which for about 3 years was my daily driver. I spent so much time trying to keep water out and getting the interior dry again, that I now absolutely do anything not to drive the Z in the rain. Don’t mind driving on wet roads, in fact enjoy driving in the rain, but not in a rag top. A bit soft I suppose, but I don’t really give a dam at this stage of life. We usually take Zzedd out for a run at least once a week. In fact, when I took that photo, I had shortly before put Zzedd in the garage following a cruise up to Noojee which is an old logging town, way up in the Baw Baw ranges. When I went to put the cover over the car, I stopped at the spot the cover is in the photo because the bonnet was still warm and I didn’t want to cover it just then. So l grabbed a beer, as you do, and whilst looking over the car, thought that would be a good photo. The caption was thrown in for fun.

Can empathise with you with travel restrictions as we did exactly the same when we had a couple of brief 5k travel restrictions earlier this year. It is amazing how many times you have to drive around the block just to find a parking spot so you can buy essentials.

You guys have really had it tuff over the last 6 months or so but are now looking forward to less restrictions within the near future it seems. Hope you get more opportunities to enjoy your Z.

Cheers, Tom

Hello In Australia, my fellow Zedders. Reports here of an earthquake in or north of Melbourne. How are you? Sending you all safe thoughts and best wishes.

Hi Dawn. I think we were very lucky yesterday, as our communities did not sustain much damage at all considering it was the largest earthquake in our states recorded history. Our home is about 100 Klms from the epicentre. The house moaned, groaned and shook for about 30 seconds but no damage. A couple of old buildings closer into Melbourne lost some of their facades but in all, little damage. Thank goodness no one was seriously injured.
Thank you for your concern.
Cheers. Tom

That’s reassuring to read Tom @Tom Martin. I was once in a Greek island when there was a 6.9 earthquake just off the island, in the sea. It was petrifying to experience. Stay safe and glad things aren’t as bad as they could have been.

We felt the effects of an Earth Quake here a few years ago. It was soon after I had my heart surgery in 2008. Granted it wasn't as strong as the one as you're talking about , but, for us it was definitely a strong one. We can do without any more, thank you.

Tony.
