Looked and sounded like the real thing, MOT history backs it up

MOT expired and on the road. Tut tut.

On the way to a pre-booked MOT I’m sure...

50yrs old this year. When would this car become MOT exempt?

Probably running it on chip fat an' all. ;)
You can see the tractor influence too:eek:

Tony.

I bet they were off to brands hatch for the weekend as it's the classic racing.

As of 20th May 2018 this car and any car mor than 40 years old does not require an MOT. He can have the car tested voluntarily, if he wishes.
Also VEL exempt. All he needs is insurance to be on the road.

if that is smoke stains from the exhausts, it looks like it won't pass an MOT either......
At that age it doesn't really need to bother about emissions, if it was tested, it's visible smoke only.
That staining is probably heat related, if that is original paint.
But who would be looking, it is a thing of beauty.

It made plenty of black smoke when he accelerated and lots pops and bangs on the overrun!
Are these carb fed?

Yes, very much, FOUR three choke Webbers, evil to set up, that's were the smoke is coming from!
When I was a lad, we had Two of these in the showroom, reg. no's CM1 and CM2, I don't know if these numbers were real, but they were the initials of a racing driver we used to sponsor.

Lovely car. One of my favourite cars ever.

Bit late to slide in here, but a few weeks ago heading down to Folkestone, somewhere on the M25 whilst doing 70 (officer) a D-type came past me. Looked too scruffy to be a replica, and weren't hanging about, either.

I don't think all D-type replicas are pristine - a friend's father has a replica with a 4.2 engine running triple Webers. It's far from concours but it's a lovely thing as it has the proper Dunlop knock-off alloy wheels on it and a great big tail fin. He uses it regularly and goes to Le Mans in it every year.
