I am considering to install sport exhaust to my Z3. But I do not want to use more money than I have to. So the question is: What sports exhaus gives most value for the money? Suggestions?

If you can get one made up local to where you live, I would go with that, quit a few members on here have done that.

Ok, Labour in Norway is twice the cost in UK, and I think it is better to buy a complete set than build one. It is not many companys in Norway that I know that build it either.

Hello - are you after complete exhaust or cat back? I fitted a Cobra s/s cat back on my 1.9 a few years ago and am still pleased with it.

I have just bought a new catalyst, so I belive catback is the right way to go. I also consider to ditch the catalyst, but I am not sure if it will give any more power...

I have only ever removed a cat from a Merc and that improved performance and liters per KM, as you are basically removing a banana from your exhaust pipe, but I had to put it back on for the MOT.

You can do it, only problem is at M.O.T. time as it "should" fail for not having a cat fitted where it should have one. I fitted a customers own De-Cat pipe on a Honda Civic Type R 2 weeks ago and although I was required to do it, as it's not illegal, I think it's immoral to expect me to say "this is ok for 364 days a year but not on the last remaining day" as a tester.:(

OK Tony but is that bit of kit any good in your view?
Yes mate I would say so, only problem sometimes with after market items is that the bends and angles aren't bang on and fettling is required. As was the case with that Honda. The proof of the pudding is .................................... suck it and see. If it don't fit you have to send it back.

I've looked at this a few times, and it's two things for me, one is having to change it back over once per year for the mot, and two if VOSA do a spot check, i drive past a check point every day, and have been pulled in the once and everything was fine, but they did check to make sure the DPF was there, do I guess they would the cat.

If those lads take the trouble to stop you, you better believe that they're going to have a bloody good look.

Thank you for your thougts. In Norway there are strickt roles, but we do not have MOT(PKK) every year - just every second year. And the chanse to be stopped along the road for something like this is not happening...

You can get a sports CAT, which improves the flow of the exhaust gases through the system. As with everything aftermarket, the proof in the pudding is the overall design and manufacturing of the item.

I have a Remus on my 1.9 and really like the tone. I also run SuperSprints and Stromungs on my other 1.9 M44s. The Supersprint is the quietest of the bunch and the Stomung the most robust. The Stromung seems to have contributed more go power, but that might be cause it sounds more powerful. :woot:

All seem to contribute to a freer revving engine for sure.
