I've had the spinning lock problem on a few occasions with my Z3 and bought a new lock (after having handed over my first born son and a pint of my blood) to get a matching key.
After I took off the shroud surrounding the steering column and took off the ignition switch on the back of the lock, I was able to cure the problem by jiggling the small tongue which protruded from the steering lock. This lasted for some time but the spinning happened again recently.
Again, I fixed it by the jiggling method but I noticed that the switch which I have seems different at the back to the installed switch. There is no small tongue which protrudes like the one which is on the car at the moment.
DAK if there are different types or whether I'm worrying unnecessarily. One of the reasons I didn't fit the replacement is that I couldn't get the Original out using the pin method. Has anybody got experience of replacing this item?
Thanks in advance
Richard
