Coming down the A46 Lincoln by-pass where I got clocked just after buying my old E85 is a good example. Vehicles coming down the hill at 70 as they approach the camera brake hard down to 60 to pass the camera. WHY? You can pass it at 70. That is the limit.

But once people know they are there, they will just brake before the additional sensors, and speed up after them. moving the 'problem' earlier or later,.
Ok, so it extends the monitored area, in which case they may as well have just put two more cameras or an average speed camera there instead,
and if we are to believe that "they are only placed in an accident blackspot" then that single camera is achieving its objective, because excess speed before and after it, has historically never been an issue.

But will that stop councils deploying them ? I doubt it. Because for a start it will bring in extra revenue, which as we all suspect is the whole reason of them being there!
