so got new mb quartz speakers and an alpine head unit I want to fit but thought I’d check passenger speaker first. So just my luck it has an amp on it. What’s the best way and easiest to get over this , should I just run new front speaker cables back to the head unit. The amp only seems to power the footwell speakers as door tweeters and rear speakers still work with it unplugged.

I’m doing a complete new install and running new speaker wires throughout.

I’ve read somewhere that to ensure a minimum of feedback and alternator whine through the speakers, it’s best to run the cables in the centre of the car for the rear speakers and to the amp (if your putting one in the boot).

I upgraded mine some time ago with Vibe 140s, you can just remove the speaker and connect the new one to the Amp

Yep did mine at the same time, you need to leave the amp as its for the door tweeters, mine still work ok and the system sounds great

So changed my head unit today for an alpine unit , not new but more period to the car which is what I’m after. Armed with sean d’s knowledge I changed the unit over and left the original amp in place and still on stock speakers. The sound quality is so much better the standard business head unit must be seriously rubbish. I have new speakers to fit at a later date but very impressed in the difference by simply swapping head units.

Are those a straight one for one swap mate? Footwell speakers, door tweeters and the speakers behind the seats.

Yes mate, I didn't swap the tweeters just all 4 speakers, the front are 5.5 inch and the rear are 4 inch, I used 140 watt in the front and I think the rears are 90s, I bought a vibe set,

Nice unit!

Alpine are the best for sound quality outside of pro kit like Nakamichi.
I’ve had the same unit in mine, got another Aplibe with with Bluetooth now but still have that one, think it’s CDE9000.

I run hertz speakers and a 6,5inch JL sub. Alpine amps - there is cracking Apline I like amp that I’ve used for the 4speakers.
Separate Alpine mono amp for the sub.
Will dig up the thread - its plug and play with an Alpine head unit. I just rannew wires and bypassed the stock stuff totally.
