Hi All

I have read tons and have started to update the audio in my 2000 2L .

My kick speakers didn't work at all through the little amp thing but did work directly from the HU. The connections are a little corroded so I expect some water at some point.

I have a Sony HU which I have fitted. I discovered an old Nokia hands free set up that I've now ripped out. I started to fit the kicker speakers and am ditching the little amp in the left hand speaker.
I've traced the wires from HU to the speaker and replaced the left kick speaker but when I was changing the tweeter in the door was wondering about the crossover.

I know that the amp powers the kicker only and that the rear speakers and tweeters are directly from the HU but should I leave it like that and just change the tweeter speaker? Or should I put the tweeter on the new kick speaker with new crossover? will the new crossovers make any difference?
The easiest thing is to leave as is and just change the tweeter for new.

I will be changing th rear too so all is new.

Cheers in advance

Hi

With regard to the little amp on the left speaker. The usual failure point of it, is the power on relay. The armature of the relay gets magnetised by the speaker magnet over time and the relay looses it suck to close when powered on. Replacing the relay (small blue box at one end f the PC board) is a straight forward soldering job.

Hi thanks for getting back.

I'm not going to use the amp but bypass and take the power directly from the HU so that thing is now gone
