Thought I would check on my spare wheel, give it a clean and check the pressure.
I reckon I must be the first person in 22 years to have removed it from the car !IMG_20200429_103301.webp IMG_20200429_103240.webp IMG_20200429_103301.webp

Definitely past its use by date. As a new owner I checked mine at 12 years old and it was just surface rust so salvageable. Lots of people bin them and carry a tyre weld kit. I kept mine and bought a kit.

I take mine out and clean it every year. I also carry a can of goo which I have never used and a puncture repair kit which I have.

A lot if zed 3 spare wheels out there will look pretty similar to that and like you say a fair number will also not have seen the light of day for a long time.
You will find majority of them will be fitted with a space saver tyre which is now either side of 2 decades old :eek::nailbiting::nailbiting:.

Stephen.

I normally take mine out and clean it once a year. It actually got used last year on the Scottish run. @Sean d tested it for me:thumbsup:

Done 84 mile on it good test for it Dave we were about as far away from the hotel as we could have been when it happened.

I replaced the tyre inflation/weld kit out of my Insignia with a new spare wheel and tool kit as I prefer the spare wheel option.
For now I will use that in the Zed, until I can source a decent spare.
For now the spare doubles as a plant pot standIMG_20200507_091021.webpjust hoping the plant pot isn't too heavy !!

I was surprised how well my spare cleaned up from looking similar to the OPs.
