Spare wheel wire

This may sound daft i want to remove the spare wheel carrier but dont know how to remove the wire that goes to wheel carrier from the handle in the boot floor
has any one any ideas ?

There is a screwed insert where the cable connects to the locking nut assembly on the domed cap inside the boot.
It's awhile since I did mine but you loosen this a few turns first, there is a hex section to get a small adjustable on. Then drop the cage, remove the wheel so no weight and then just unscrew the top section of cable to handle. The locking nut and dome can then be removed and the rest pushes down IIRC.

Hi thanks for all your help what i am looking for is how to remove the wire from the spare wheel carrier so i can take the spare wheel carrier off and get it sandblasted

I see... Not sure how to do that. Today I took out my spare cleaned it up and pumped it up. I did notice the metal frame that holds the wheel and plastic was quite corroded. So I could probably do with taking that off one day and cleaning it up too.

As previously said where the cable joins the frame there is a small hex that an adjustable spanner {or one the right size} fits and that just unscrews releasing the frame, the hinge bolts are a fiddle as well note where all the washers fit, reassembly a few days later can cause a memory lapse if you are like me.
