Morning ,, have any of you guys permanently removed the spare wheel carrier ? I dropped mine down yesterday and the wheel is no good at all so I thought I may aswell remove the carrier (il just run round with some temporary tyre foam in the boot) ,, just wanting your thoughts on this (or have I spoiled my car ) ,, TIA 👍

Buy a spare space saver from an e36 saloon as this will have led a sheltered life in the boot.
The last 3 punctures I have had were caused by potholes causing holes in the sidewall, foam will not fix this sort of damage.

We bought one last year from ebay (after some good advice from "DakarZ3" ) that I think had come out of an e46 in absolutely pristine as new condition for £45. Like you we had a tyre foam kit in the boot but read one too many stories of cracked alloys many miles from home. (I think it may have been Andyglim's story that was the straw that broke the camels back.) So now we have belt & braces with both spare wheel & tyre foam!

I carry a microfibre towell and a set of Thule luggage straps, you can put the towel on the boot lid and tie the wheel on top with the straps.
