Sonic boom?!

Here I am, sat in my own house reading items on .org when .......BANG!!!!!
So loud I nearly s*** myself, Julie screamed,house shook ,thought it was an
Earthquake!!! Went outside to see which part of my roof had caved in to find
All neighbours outside wondering just what the hell happened???
Heard and saw two planes flying in the distance ,was it them??
Was it a bomb my daughter phoned??

Anybody else heard this I am in Doncaster?

Seen a post or two on FB about it, that'll be some flying pay being docked then, unless there's something going on that we're not aware of.

Unusual to hear sonic boom but the RAF do get permission to go over the speed of sound to do an intercept every once in a while.
I heard one two years ago - that was unusual because they were doing an in-land intercept.
 
Might just have been the response in Leicester though

Just heard on grapevine plane from Paris to Newcastle
Lost all communication two Typhoon jets scrambled to escort
It in .Allowed to go sonic in emergency !

I just wondered that it went with such a bang i thought something had fallen on the conservatory but when i went out i could only hear a planes engine in the distance it was moving what ever it was !!
 
My bet it was a Typhoon jockey who is a Leicester fan =))

Yes it was two Typhoons scrambled to intercept another plane

Yep - can confirm that. Regularly hear them set off as Conningsby is about 5 minutes from my house. They do night flying, but we are notified of the usual nights. Anything else is usually an non-communicative airline, or the Russians intruding.
 
Loved to hear them scramble the jets from Germany over south Holland while I was there. Couldn't believe just how many times it happened. And the sounds even without booms was deafening! JIM
 
:) As a child, I lived at the end of the runway at Scampton when the Vulcans used to take off - and this was in the days before double glazing. Awesome sound.
