After the trials and tribulations of taking the Z4 over the Langdale, Wrynose and Hardnott pass.
The missing bolt from the caliper carrier missing somewhere in Cumbria. A M10 bolt got me home after a test over the Kirkstone Pass
As per recommendation from my friendly recovery chappie replacement part purchased from my local BMW dealer
So with the great roadside help from my fellow Zedders, Recovery insurance from Flux rescue, Call out by Furniss car and commercial and Part from BMW Stratstone the car will be repaired
costs, temporary bolt 57p and £2.60 for the original BMW part makes a grand total of £3.17

Its got nothing to do with expensive running costs Paul, It’s called LUCK!!!!!! :bag:

Unless you carry a spare wheel there’s not much point.

Tony.

Must admit I bought a spare and a scissor jack first week with the coupe but put it somewhere safe in my lockup. Must exchange it for all the crap I carry in the boot sometime. Should still be loads of room even when it's in. ( it's only a 10.5 in with a 265on it.)=))=))...............................................................................:tumbleweed:

It's not running a BMW that's expensive it's running it via BMW main dealer maintenance and servicing that's expensive - that's why nobody other than the company suits do it =))

@t-tony, Paul would have been stuck if I hadn't got my jack !
Scissor jack ordered room behind drivers seat with brace for it to live. Interesting point from one of our weekend gang, had my head under the car at the time so not sure who said it but when filling tyre with the gel after a puncture it helps if the car is slightly lifted to take the weight off the tyre?

I was told to simply position the valve at the top. There should be enough pressure in the can to lift the car.

Tony.

I once lost a front carrier bolt in the outside lane on the motorway on the way to the Silverstone Classic in 2012. Limped to the nearest service station with the carrier banging against the inside of the wheel. Removed one of the wheel bolts and put it into the carrier and it worked a treat. Turns out they are the same size, on the Z3 at least. If you ever loose a carrier bolt and need a replacement quickly it's worth trying a wheel bolt. You can drive the car easily with one less wheel bolt but it's a bit harder to and a lot more dangerous to drive with one less carrier bolt!
